Help us help Utah’s young children by donating items for The Christmas Box House, a non-profit that provides emergency shelter to children who are in state custody because of abuse or neglect. Items urgently needed include clothing, hygiene items, duffel bags and bicycles. New toys, school supplies and candy are also needed.
Bank of American Fork is accepting new items at its 12 branches through June 17, so please donate today.
The collection drive is in partnership with Ragpicker.org, which is sponsoring an evening with Berlin Candy Bomber Colonel Gail S. Halvorsen, who became known during post-World War II rebuilding efforts for dropping candy wrapped in handkerchief parachutes on the streets of Berlin, Germany. Halvorsen will be giving a free presentation on “Service Before Self” at 6 p.m. on June 15 at the Ogden Amphitheater, where Christmas Box House donations will also be accepted.
To kick off the event, Colonel Halvorsen will be flying in Bank of American Fork’s hot air balloon and dropping supplies to children from The Christmas Box House and the community at 8 a.m. over Harmony Park, located at 3700 South West Temple (directly across the street from The Christmas Box House Salt Lake location).
