CEObuilder event: Consumer-driven health plans, the clear path to health reform success Jun 13, 2013, 2:09 pm By Heidi Carmack Pfaffroth

CEObuilder and Bank of American Fork invite you to join us on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 to hear a presentation by Dr. Stephen Neeleman, CEO, director and co-founder of HealthEquity. Dr. Neeleman’s presentation will be about consumer-driven health plans and keys to success for employers that want to use them as a key strategy to retain and attract employees, help improve employee health and wellness, and avoid taxes and penalties in this new regulatory environment.

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is currently being implemented throughout the United States by federal and state government officials, employers and health plan providers.  PPACA’s health coverage mandate requirement will be enforced beginning January 1, 2014.  Key elements of this law require tax payers to obtain health coverage and larger employers to offer health coverage in order to avoid taxes and other financial penalties. Employer coverage must be must meet Minimum Essential Coverage requirements, be affordable for employees and should be designed to avoid an onerous excise tax beginning 2018. As employers and health plans scramble to construct plan designs that meet PPACA requirements, there seems to be a clear path to success if payers can reach significant adoption of consumer-driven health plans, including both HSAs and HRAs, within the constituent populations.

In this presentation we will explore the details around how CDHPs interact with PPACA requirements, national trends in the adoption of CDHPs, and keys to success for employers that want to use CDHPs as a key strategy to retain and attract employees, help improve employee health and wellness and avoid taxes and penalties in this new regulatory environment.  There is light at the end of the tunnel for employers within PPACA!

Dr. Neeleman’s presentation will start the forum off. Following that, discussion will help participants to understand how it will impact their business. CEObuilder members may choose to close the afternoon discussion if sensitive matters need to be discussed.

This forum will be held at Bank of American Fork, Riverton Branch Conference Room, 2691 West 12600 South, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19. Please RSVP here or by contacting Heidi at Heidi.carmack@bankaf.com or 801-642-3139.
