Riders on the historic Pony Express trail enjoy a fun out-and-back ride Jun 10, 2013, 4:38 pm By Heidi Carmack Pfaffroth

Nearly 200 cyclists participated in the Bank of American Fork and Epic Biking Pony Express Century Bike Ride over Memorial Day weekend. Riders braved the windy Pony Express historic trail to enjoy beautiful vistas on the out-and-back trail from Saratoga Springs North to Rush Valley. Riders participated in a 30-mile, Metric Century or 100-mile ride, supported by volunteers at rest stops along the way.

This ride is a fun ride that is not timed, and families of participants came out to the Bank of American Fork Saratoga Springs branch, where riders started and finished, to support their riders with posters and cheers.

One participant said she enjoyed looking out on vistas that she imagined were nearly the same when the trail was used for the Pony Express years ago.

Participants brought canned food donations to be donated to Utah food banks.
