How are you doing on your New Year’s resolutions?
Many people are motivated by the new year to set goals for improvement in a variety of ways. According to StatisticBrain.com, the top three New Year’s resolutions for 2017 were:
1. Lose Weight/Healthier Eating
2. Life/Self Improvements
3. Better Financial Decisions
In case you missed it, be sure to check out our article from January on ways to improve your finances for the new year.
While New Year’s resolutions are usually set with long-term intentions, research shows that many are discontinued after the first month, less than half are still maintained by the time June rolls around and only 8% of people actually achieve them.
We want to hear some of your New Year’s resolutions and what you’re doing to remain motivated as the year goes on. For example, some people will plan a year-end vacation to be paid for by money saved from their new budget. If they fail to stick to their budget then there’s no money to pay for the vacation. Other people will set incremental and manageable weight-loss goals. Instead of saying “I want to lose 30 lbs. this year” they will say, “I want to lose 2.5 lbs. each month”.
